Mrs. Herring has been teaching for 14 years, 7 of them at Lakewood High School. She has taught almost all of the Social Studies courses that exist, but insists that World History is the best. Mrs. Herring has been the department head for Social Studies for 3 years, the Debate Coach for 4 years, and has recently been working with the Academic Team. In 2004 she received the Beginning Social Studies Teacher of the Year for Volusia County and in 2015 was awarded a grant to study the relationship between the Soviet Union/Russia and the United States from 1776-present from the National Endowment for the Humanities for 4 weeks at Ferris University. She also was honored with the Kraf-Custerf Outstanding Educator award in 2015. Mrs. Herring is obsessed with her dog The Stig, loves to travel internationally, and her biggest fears are turning lactose intolerant and clowns.
